MARSEILLE for MAY DAY!

Yay! May in Paris..... all things great reveal themselves - sun, tulips, and holidays! In May 3 of the weeks are short because there is an abundance of fete days. Just when we were all beginning to despair for the arrival of summer, we were rewarded. To celebrate, Amy and I headed south to Marseille.

What a great place! We instantly loved it, even though we didn't really know what to expect. It has a fairly bad reputation, and yes, we saw some pretty messed up stuff (and had some scary encounters) but all in all, its a great place. Beautiful harbour, spectacular calanques (cliffs), one of the best churches I have ever seen (complete with toy boats - see the pic!), and really friendly people. Marseille comes highly recommended from us! Next weekend - the gastronomical capital of France (and the world?) - Lyon!
